ABOUT
ME!
Rebecca Rivera is a New York Native of Honduran descent, singer, actor, writer, and performance poet who uses art as a means of changing narratives, pushing boundaries, and understanding herself and the world around her. Her artistic work is informed by the desire to explore untold stories and what it means to carve your place into the world. She believes there is truth and power in emotion and writes and performs often on identity, Latinidad, womanhood, and finding your voice. She has debuted her acting work at The Kupferberg Center of the Arts, The Hudson Guild Theater, The Manhattan Repertory Theater, The Russian Arts Theater, as well as on voiceovers and film. In 2021, as live theatre slowly returned post-pandemic, Rebecca co-produced, devised, and acted in a tribute to celebrated Cuban-American playwright, Maria Irene Fornes. The production was entirely BIPOC led and had two sold out shows. Most recently she co-wrote, co-produced, and acted in the short film Like A Virgin (post-production), which explores female friendship and the different yet similar relationships women have with their sexuality. In line with her vision and goals as a Latina creative in the entertainment industry, the film's cast and crew was women and Latino led. As a poet, Rebecca has performed her poetry in many spaces including The Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, New York University, St. John University, The Bronx Museum of the Arts and more. In 2019 she was awarded the Harry Glick Prize in Poetry at Queens College. Her acting training includes a BA in Media and Theatre Performance from Queens College, The Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and The Acting Studio in NYC.
